Spring 2008 —
For a long time I have been very interested in everyday experiences that for some reason become aesthetic. I have never been very attracted to conventional graffiti or street art but various public and social interventions constantly catch my attention.
As an urban art project I engraved words on padlocks and hid them around Helsinki. Due to their everyday life appearance locks would not be considered immediately as art objects, but the aesthetic dimension is revealed when the engraved words are read.
The words were chosen in relation to the site and surroundings.
So far more than 15 locks have been placed all around Helsinki.

Vapaus (Freedom).

Todellisuus (Reality).

Salaisuus (Secret).
